Qualified Aliens: As defined by MassHealth, these are noncitizens who can get federally-funded benefits. Qualified aliens include legal permanent residents who arrived before August 22, 1996, or arrived on or after that date and have been in the country for five years or more. Aliens with Special Status: As defined by MassHealth, these are noncitizens who are legal residents but who cannot receive certain federally-funded benefits. Undocumented Aliens: As defined by MassHealth, these are noncitizens who do not fit into the categories of qualified aliens or aliens with special status.
